Deep sea diving cannot be done without the use of an air compressor. Scuba divers need a proper air supply in order to remain underwater, and these compressors are the only way to fill the tanks. Without them, scuba would be next to impossible.
Many diving boats have an onboard air compressor. Scuba tanks can be readily refilled without having to go ashore, which means that longer dive excursions are much easier. This is especially handy when you have a group dive and need to be able to refill multiple tanks.
Dive companies will often have a high-capacity fill station style air compressor. Scuba tanks are inserted into these machines, which then quickly fill the tanks. These are designed to shield the operator from any dangers of over pressurization.
