Deep sea diving equipment consist of many different items, some more expensive than others. Some of this equipment can be rented through local dive shops, but most experienced divers own their own. However, for the novice diver, most people recommend purchasing a mask, snorkel and fins, and renting the more expensive items.
The most important pieces of deep sea diving equipment are those that maintain your oxygen supply and allow you to breathe. This includes air tanks, regulators and diving computers. Without these items, divers would not be able to stay underwater for very long.
Mask and fins are also important pieces of deep sea diving equipment, but are much less expensive to purchase. A mask should be comfortable, and should form an adequate seal to prevent any water from leaking inside. Fins are used to propel the diver through the water, and while are not “essential”, diving is considerably more difficult without them.
