When storing gear, it is imperative that it be properly rinsed and dried. A drying rack can make this task much easier. These racks can be homemade or purchased from a dive shop.
A quality drying rack will be able to hold all of your gear. Wetsuits, gloves, boots, masks, etc should be able to fit on the rack and be easily rinsed off with fresh water. Most people recommend rinsing everything, then turning it all inside out and re-rinsing.
Once the equipment has been rinsed off, it is important to place the drying rack out of direct sunlight. The ultra-violet rays of the sun can have damaging effects on the rubber and silicone used for many pieces of diving equipment. Placing the rack outside, but in the shade is the most recommended option.
