Scuba dive equipment is designed to allow a human to move freely through open water. Since the human body was designed to take oxygen from the air and not the water, a breathing apparatus is the most obvious piece of needed equipment. It is also where the term “scuba” comes from (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus).
A quality air regulator and oxygen tank are the most essential pieces of scuba dive equipment. Without these two items a diver would not be able to stay underwater for more than a few minutes per dive. There are, however, other pieces of equipment that are necessary as well.
Fins and masks are also important pieces of scuba dive equipment. Fins are worn over the feet and allow the diver to move through the water much more easily than trying to do so with just bare feet. And of course, the mask is what allows the diver to see what is going on around him/her during the dive.
