Scuba flippers must be particularly wide and large in comparison to other fin types. This is because of all their diving equipment. Such equipment increases water resistance, which requires a bit more optimization to overcome.
In contrast to scuba flippers are those created for different applications of course. Snorkelers need more lightweight and flexible options. Other individuals who are just as frequently walking on the beach will need smaller designs. Lifeguards and bodysurfers fall into this latter category.
Scuba flippers are commonly of the open heel type. This allows them to fit over shoes or boots. Either springs or straps are utilized to keep the fin secure. Full foot fins are more appropriate to satisfy surface swimming needs.
